1. Introduction
CrumbWarden is a free browser extension developed and maintained by Full Stack Innovations LLC ("FSI," "we," "our," or "us").
CrumbWarden is designed to help users control their browsing experience by blocking known advertisements and tracking requests, managing supported cookie consent dialogs, detecting potential tracking activity, and providing website-specific privacy controls.
We believe privacy tools should respect the privacy of the people using them.
CrumbWarden operates locally within your browser. It does not require an account, include advertising, collect analytics for the developer, or transmit your browsing history to Full Stack Innovations LLC.
This Privacy Policy explains what information CrumbWarden accesses, how that information is used and stored, and the controls available to users.
2. Information CrumbWarden Accesses
CrumbWarden requires access to certain website and browser information to perform its advertised features.
Depending on which features are enabled, this information may include:
Website and Request Information
CrumbWarden examines website addresses, domain names, resource requests, and certain network failures to identify and block known advertising or tracking resources.
This information is processed locally within your browser.
CrumbWarden does not transmit your browsing history, visited website addresses, or network activity reports to Full Stack Innovations LLC.
Cookie Consent and Popup Information
CrumbWarden examines supported website dialogs and overlays to identify cookie consent controls, advertising-related popups, and promotional messages.
This may involve examining visible text, element attributes, and identifiers associated with those dialogs.
When enabled, CrumbWarden may interact with recognized cookie consent controls according to your selected preferences.
The website remains responsible for honoring and applying your consent selection.
Privacy and Behavioral Signals
CrumbWarden may identify known analytics services, advertising networks, and tracking technologies.
It may also detect the registration of certain keyboard or pointer event listeners and the use of browser APIs associated with potential fingerprinting.
These observations do not establish that a website is acting maliciously.
CrumbWarden does not intentionally record your keystrokes, passwords, form field values, mouse coordinates, or canvas pixel contents.
User Preferences
CrumbWarden stores preferences necessary to provide its functionality, including enabled protection features, trusted websites, blocked websites, cookie-handling preferences, and individual popup allowances.
Saved popup allowances may contain website hostnames, portions of page paths, popup titles, and element identifiers necessary to recognize the allowed popup.
These preferences are stored locally.
3. Information Storage and Retention
CrumbWarden uses browser-provided extension storage.
Persistent Local Storage
The extension stores user preferences, website-specific rules, popup allowances, and aggregate protection statistics using the browser's local extension storage.
This information remains on your device until it is changed, cleared through browser controls, or removed when the extension is uninstalled.
Temporary Session Storage
CrumbWarden may temporarily store privacy observations and website reports in browser session storage or content-script memory.
These reports support the extension's interface and provide information about activity detected on the current page.
Reports associated with a tab are cleared when the tab closes or navigates, and session storage is cleared when the browser session ends.
Protection Statistics
CrumbWarden maintains aggregate statistics about estimated blocked requests, blocked website navigations, and hidden popups.
These statistics are stored locally and are not transmitted to Full Stack Innovations LLC.
Blocking statistics are estimates and may be affected by other extensions, browser-level protection, or differences in browser reporting.
CrumbWarden does not maintain a persistent, itemized history of every website you visit.
4. Data Collection and Sharing
CrumbWarden does not operate a developer-controlled service that receives browsing information from the extension.
Specifically, CrumbWarden does not:
Sell or share your browsing activity with advertisers or data brokers.
Transmit browsing reports or protection statistics to Full Stack Innovations LLC.
Use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Create user profiles for advertising or marketing purposes.
Require account registration or personal information to use the extension.
CrumbWarden does not download executable code or blocking rules from remote servers during normal operation. Its blocking rules are included with the installed extension.
Normal browsing requests continue to be governed by the websites you visit and your browser's settings.
When CrumbWarden activates a cookie consent button, the resulting interaction is handled by that website and may involve communication with the website's own services.
Browser vendors and extension marketplaces may independently process installation, update, security, or diagnostic information according to their respective privacy policies.
5. Browser Permissions
CrumbWarden requests browser permissions necessary to provide its advertised functionality.
Website Access
Allows CrumbWarden to identify advertisements, trackers, supported cookie dialogs, and popup elements on websites where protection is active.
Network Request Blocking
Allows the extension to apply locally bundled advertising and tracking rules and enforce user-defined website restrictions.
Network Request Observation
Allows CrumbWarden to observe certain request failures and calculate estimated blocking statistics.
Local Storage
Allows the extension to remember your settings and protection statistics between browsing sessions.
Cookie and Privacy Settings
Allows CrumbWarden to apply optional browser-wide cookie restrictions when explicitly enabled by the user.
CrumbWarden does not use these permissions for unrelated tracking, advertising, or profiling.
Information accessed through browser extension APIs is used only for the user-facing functionality described in this policy, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
6. Cookie Management
CrumbWarden provides tools for managing cookie-related behavior.
These features may include automatically selecting supported consent controls, preserving consent dialogs for manual decisions, cosmetically hiding recognized banners, and applying optional browser-wide cookie restrictions.
Automatic consent handling does not guarantee that a website will honor the selected preference.
Cosmetically hiding a cookie banner does not constitute accepting or rejecting cookies.
The optional browser-wide cookie blocking feature may prevent websites from functioning correctly, including websites requiring cookies for authentication or shopping carts.
CrumbWarden does not automatically delete previously stored website cookies.
Users may disable these features or adjust their preferences through the extension's settings.
7. User Controls and Data Removal
Users retain control over CrumbWarden's protection features and locally stored preferences.
Through the extension interface, users can pause protection, enable or disable supported features, manage trusted or blocked websites, and modify cookie-handling preferences.
Users can also remove saved popup allowances through the extension settings.
Local extension data can be removed using the browser's extension or site-data management controls. Uninstalling CrumbWarden removes its extension-managed storage in accordance with the browser's behavior.
Because Full Stack Innovations LLC does not receive or maintain a server-side copy of your browsing reports or extension preferences, we cannot access, retrieve, or delete that locally stored information on your behalf.
8. Data Security
CrumbWarden is designed to minimize unnecessary data collection and transmission.
Protection operations, preferences, and reporting are handled locally within the browser.
The extension does not maintain a remote database containing user browsing activity.
Locally stored information remains subject to the security of your browser, operating system, device, and any other software with access to that environment.
Although we take reasonable steps to design the extension with privacy and security in mind, no software can guarantee complete protection against every security or privacy threat.
9. Support Communications
If you voluntarily contact Full Stack Innovations LLC for assistance, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message contents, and technical details included in your support request.
We use this information to respond to inquiries, investigate reported issues, and provide support.
Support communications are separate from CrumbWarden's locally stored browsing information and are not automatically transmitted by the extension.
Support messages may be processed by our email service provider for delivery and retained as reasonably necessary to address the request and meet applicable obligations.
10. Third-Party Websites and Services
CrumbWarden operates on websites and services that are not controlled by Full Stack Innovations LLC.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices, cookie policies, or data collection activities of those websites.
While CrumbWarden attempts to block supported advertising and tracking mechanisms, it cannot guarantee that every advertisement, tracker, cookie, or fingerprinting technique will be prevented.
Users should consult the privacy policies of websites they visit for information about those websites' data practices.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Full Stack Innovations LLC may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in CrumbWarden's functionality, data practices, legal requirements, or browser platform policies.
When changes occur, the updated policy will be published on our website with a revised effective or last-updated date.
Material changes to CrumbWarden's data collection or sharing practices will be disclosed as required by applicable law and browser extension marketplace policies.
